FCDO

The FCDO project, implemented by RWAMREC and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), empowers marginalized groups, including women, youth, people with disabilities, and the elderly. It aims to create inclusive policies and address gender and social inclusion gaps, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The FCDO project works with marginalized groups, including women, youth, people with disabilities, and elderly people. It is implemented by RWAMREC with financial support from the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO). The project's overall objective is to contribute to the development of effective and inclusive policy responses, focusing on the institutionalization of the Gender Budget Statement, Imihigo performance contracts, and addressing other gender and social inclusion gaps to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the effective involvement of citizens and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The project targets:

  • All Citizens: To participate effectively in planning and decision-making and hold leaders accountable through the Community Scorecard (CSC).

  • Leaders: To address gender and inclusion issues effectively.

  • Local and National Governments: To formulate policies and guidelines that respond to citizens' gender and social inclusion issues and priorities.

The project employs various approaches, including capacity building, networking, and advocacy:

  • Forum Members: Strengthening the members on Gender Transformative Approaches (GTA), planning, and budgeting.

  • Community Training: Training people on the use of the Community Scorecard for effective participation in planning and decision-making.

  • District Technical Staff Training: Training district technical staff to consider gender and social inclusion issues in planning and budgeting processes.
