Rwanda Men’s Resource Center (RWAMREC) in Partnership with Karongi district have on March 8th 2020 supported 45 poor women single headed households with community health Insurance (Mutuelle de Santé) at the occasion of celebrating the International Women’s Day under the national theme “Transformation change: women’s at the forefront.”
RWAMREC’ support was provided under its project of Prevention+ which is implemented which is implemented in Karongi district under the support of PROMUNDO US. The 45 families supported are comprised of 200 members and the supported families have expressed gratitude for the support which will help to cover health cost for their family members.
Not only 45 families were supported with Health Insurance but also there was legal marriage to 69 families which were cohabitating. Three poor families were also supported with cows and other 37 families were supported with 74 iron-sheets to roof their latrines. There was also guided tour to developmental project initiated by women.
Speaking at the Event, Mukase Valentine-Karongi Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs appreciated the partnership of RWAMREC in the development of the development of Karongi residents.

Prevention is a five years’ project which helps couples and youth in schools to achieve gender equality and to prevent Gender Based Violence through men engage approach since 2016.
